How the Laboratory Works

Interactive Thermodynamic Engine

The core of Dasu Urfe Ampa is a fully interactive Skew-T/log-P diagram where every adjustment triggers immediate physics recalculation. Drag the environmental temperature and dewpoint curves anywhere on the chart, and watch as the virtual air parcel rises through the atmosphere in real-time. The shaded CAPE region dynamically adjusts to show positive buoyancy zones while numerical indicators update instantaneously.

This laboratory simulates the exact process meteorologists use to assess convective potential. When you modify a temperature profile, the app computes Convective Available Potential Energy, Convective Inhibition, Lifted Condensation Level, Level of Free Convection, and Equilibrium Level using standard atmospheric equations. Eight preset soundings represent real-world conditions from Classic Supercell environments to stable autumn profiles with zero convective potential.

Beyond the diagram, the three-view analysis screen breaks down buoyancy layer by layer. The ring-gauge cluster translates abstract energy values into intuitive visual representations, while the horizontal bar chart shows exactly which atmospheric layers contribute positive or negative buoyancy. An interactive convective-cell cross-section includes a draggable altitude scrubber to explore conditions at any height throughout the storm column.

Core Analysis Capabilities

Drag-and-Drop Curve Editing

Manipulate environmental temperature and dewpoint profiles by directly dragging curves on the Skew-T diagram. Physics recalculation happens in milliseconds as you adjust atmospheric conditions.

Real-Time Energy Computation

Watch CAPE and CIN values update instantly as you modify soundings. The app calculates convective available potential energy and convective inhibition using standard parcel theory equations.

Miniature Library Thumbnails

Every saved sounding generates a compact Skew-T thumbnail for visual at-a-glance comparison. Browse your entire collection and identify profiles instantly by their characteristic shapes.

Storm Category Classification

Automatic badge assignment based on thermodynamic parameters. Soundings are categorized from stable conditions through capped environments to extreme supercell setups.

Sky Photo Field Logs

Attach photographs to sounding records to build visual documentation of atmospheric conditions. Create a complete meteorological journal linking observed sky appearance with thermodynamic profiles.

Expandable Reference Cards

Built-in educational content explains CAPE, CIN, LCL, LFC, and EL concepts. Tap any parameter to access detailed explanations of its meteorological significance and calculation method.
